Week 5 Reading Notes: Turkish Fairy Tales, Part B

"Stork" Source

The Liver:

This story is quite simple to read and very easy to follow along. Essentially the story follows a little girl who was sent out by her mother to get some liver so that they can cook it for a meal. So the little girl goes out to the market to look for the liver. She eventually finds some liver and goes to wash it off in a pond when a stork swoops down and snatches the liver. Ths little girl yelled at the stork for it to give her back the liver but the stork asked for something in exchange. The girl knows that if she returns home without the liver she will be punished, so she set out to find what the stork asked for and when she found it the next person did the same thing that the stork did and asked for something in return. This continued a few times until the girl happened upon a man who had what the girl needed, but this time all the man wanted was a kiss in exchange for the thing. So the girl gave him a kiss and went along to exchange everything until she got the liver back from the stork and the mom cooked it and they had it as a meal.

I have found these Turkish Tales to be quite enjoyable and neat concepts for stories. I believe that I will use this story as the one that I want to re-write because it is a simple idea to follow and make your own.
